MeeGo ist tot? Das sehen Ex-Nokia Angestellte aber ganz anderes und gründen mal so eben ihr eigenes Unternehmen mit dem Namen Jolla!
Jolla, klingt erst mal schon ziemlich komisch oder? Also ich kenne das Wort bisher nur von betrunkenen Jugendlichen die nicht mehr richtig sprechen können. Gut, das ist aber ein anderes Thema und ich bin mir sicher, dass der Name Jolla im Finnischen so normal ist wie wenn bei uns ein Kind Jan genannt wird. Das eigentliche Thema ist ein neues finnisches Start-Up das vollenden will was Nokia nicht wollte. Jolla wird weiter am MeeGo Betriebssystem arbeiten und will sogar noch dieses Jahr ein neues Smartphone mit MeeGo OS und eine total neuen Benutzeroberfläche auf den Markt bringen. Wer nicht glaubt, dass die Jungs Know-How haben der soll sich einfach mal das Nokia N9 oder aber auch das Lumia 800 ansehen. Wieso diese Geräte? Vor wenigen Tagen hat das MeeGo Team Nokia verlassen und naja, die meisten Leute bei Jolla gehören diesem Team an! Wer jetzt aber auf großen Support für das Nokia N9 seitens Jolla hofft der wird wohl leider enttäuscht werden, denn man dankt Nokia dieses Gerät auf den Markt gebracht zu haben, sieht sich selbst aber nicht in der Verantwortung für dieses Gerät für Updates zu sorgen, wie ich finde völlig verständlich.
Ich wünsche den Jungs viel Erfolg. Leider durfte ich noch nicht das Glück haben etwas mit einem Nokia N9 zu spielen. Ich persönlich glaube allerdings nicht an den Erfolg. MeeGo hat zwar durchweg fast nur positives Feedback bekommen, allerdings denke ich, dass es einfach ein paar Jahr zu spät kommt. Man sieht schon wie schwer es Microsoft mit Windows Phone hat in dem Smartphone-Markt richtig Fuß zu fassen und das trotz deutlich größeren Geldes Reserven und den richtigen Partnerschafften. Wenn Jolla es aber trotzdem schaffen sollte, vielleicht kauft dann ja in ein paar Jahren Jolla Nokia auf

Jolla Ltd. is an independent Finland based smartphone product company which continues the excellent work that Nokia started with MeeGo. The Jolla team is formed by directors and core professionals from Nokia’s MeeGo N9 organisation, together with some of the best minds working on MeeGo in the communities.
